Aggie Football: Gallup Camp/Children's Clinic

The end of my hiatus in Colorado meant coming back to my hometown of Gallup, NM. Coincidentally Aggie Football is holding a camp here, and so here are some photos from practice, and from a children's clinic they held. Watching 3 foot Pee Wee's taking down 6'11" college football players was a real treat.

Wolf Creek.

Once I was bored with taking pictures of wildflowers, I strayed from the group and found this waterfall.

I experimented with very fast shutter speeds and then very slow. Over all I decided that the slow shutter speeds made a more interesting photo. It gave the falling water a sort of veil affect. Much like some Ansel Adams shots I saw in Austin a few years ago.

Wildflower Hike

I don't do much nature photography, but I think that I might shoot a lot of that this week. You don't see much green where I'm from, and it's green up here, so I am taking advantage. Enjoy!

Vacation...

...one much needed.

Doggie Paddle

It was Doggie Day at Frenger Pool. Dog owners were allowed to come to the local pool with their dogs and feel a little relief from the hot, dry weather. It's this type of assignment that keeps you smiling for the rest of the day.

Technical difficulty.

Sorry no photos in this blog. There were supposed to be beautiful photos of horses posted her that I took yesterday, but no. I came home to upload them onto my computer only to discover ANOTHER corrupt disk. The files are there, but there are no images to speak of. I will not have these photos until I have Image Recovery... and that's going to cost me some. So until then, no horse photos, and my broken heart, and perhaps an angry boss. What makes me even more angry is the fact that it was a new card. If any of you have a suggestion of how to solve my problem I would love to hear it.

Media Day.

I am afraid that I neglected to post a photo yesterday. I could say I had a busy day, but really everyone is busy, and it's not an excuse. I did shoot, but nothing of high enough quality to publish in this blog.

-------------------------

Ah, Media Day. A day when reporters, and broadcasters from all around the area come for interviews with football and volleyball coaches and players.

Aggie Football Offensive Lineman Polo Gutierrez in an interview with KDBC 4 El Paso/Las Cruces.

Aggie Football Wide Receiver Doug McDaniel in an interview with KRQE News 13.

My shots were getting rather repetitive so it was time to try something new.

Strictly Ballroom

This is post number two for today. I said things would pick up. I had an assignment for the Sun News this evening. I'm calling it a day.

Beginning Ballroom Dance instructor Cutis Graham leads Mari Ramirez into a corte' while they dance the American Tango.

Begin the Beguine

I know this probably should have been my first post, but I was excited and just dove right in. This is what it's all about. This photo blog, is giving me a reason to shoot every day. I'm going to call it a phlog, because it sounds so much cooler. My goal is to post a photo at least once a day, even if it's not an assignment for work.

The point is for me to keep shooting. In this case, it's a photo of me, and I have to say, it does no justice to my summer tan. You might end up seeing a photo of yourself up here someday. My very wise friend Gabe convinced me to get a blogger and post one photo every day. You can find a link to his phlog to the right, along with other friends and colleagues of mine, who are all talented and very much worth peeking at.
You should know that the coming weeks will be very busy, and we should see some exciting work published here. With the start of the semester comes the beginning of Football and Volleyball seasons, and also, news should pick up. I also have a trip to Colorado next week, and Sports Shooter Academy Bootcamp in November. So here is to the start of something beautiful. Enjoy.

Preparing for Noah

New Mexico State Aggie Volleyball player Jordan Bostic is talented on and off of the court. She is a reporter for a local newspaper as well as an amateur artist. Her latest piece was a safari-themed nursery in Assistant Volleyball Coach Ashley Hardee's home in preparation for the birth of his son Noah.
