"Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again." ~Henri Cartier-Bresson
One of my editors asked me yesterday if I played softball in high school...
And yes... I did.
So now I'm shooting a tournament all weekend. Those bright yellow balls whizzing by take me back to the day when I took a line drive to the face. I had a black eye for prom... I think it looked cool because my it matched my dress.
And I'll throw this in for fun... you are welcome!
The annual pilgramages to the Santurio do Chimayó continue every Easter weekend. Most pilgrims start walking in Santa Fe, twenty-seven miles to the south, but others come the eighty miles from Albuquerque, walking part of the way barefoot or crawling the last few yards on their knees.
My second passion in life (I hate when people say "passion") is singing. I was looking to be a voice major my first few semesters of college... but then I found photojournalism....so here I am.
...and this photo really doesn't even look like me.
Rebecca Craig/The New Mexican Bebe Krimmer's exhibit "Principia" opens on April 4, at Chiaroscuro Gallery. Above, Krimmer is pictured with here acrylic collage "Galileo" on March 20, 2008.
Rebecca Craig/The New Mexican Aiden Pollon, 1, plays under a banner displaying biographies of U.S. Military personel killed in Iraq and Afganistan at The Iraq/Afganistan Memorial Installation on Alameda St. on Wednesday, March 19.
When you use words, they also communicate a lot about you.
...I'm not making a political statement or anything like that. They're just some things that I came across today. They actually made me stop (and take a photo). Goes to show how powerful communication is.
Went out looking for a feature... shot these two but they're not running.
... and my one assignment for the day: Rebecca Craig/The New Mexican Sharon O'Shea plugs her ears as Joe Esparza demonstrates how do use the compound mider saw in a workshop for women who want to participate in Habitat for Humanity's Women Build at Lowe's on Thursday March 13, 2008.
Olivia Selvage,5, her twin sister Reina, her father and two dogs walked by at the end of derby practice and wanted to watch. After the derby girls ended practice Olivia and Reina took advantage of the roller hockey rink. Below, Olivia, and her dog Sammy fall behind while racing her sister. I myself was leaving and packing all of my thinks into my truck when I noticed the sun setting and the beams that were reflected on the fence, forming a triangle. I like the way it frames Olivia's little hooded figure and Sammy. This light lasted about 20 seconds.
It snowed last night... More snow than I have ever seen before. Rebecca Craig/The New Mexican Engineer Jerome Martinez brushes snow off of Firefighter Paramedic Carlos Nava's helmet Wednesday night at cadet flashover training.
So everyone in the photo department is required to produce at least one multi media project a month. I barely made the deadline... I like to think that it took me so long because I was trying to get into the swing of things since I barely moved to Santa Fe a month and a half ago. This month was a fairly easy subject... but I hope you enjoy it anyway.
